4/1/2005 SYMLINKs in Win 2k/2003 ! ?Just found a very interesting tidbit of information on Scott Hanselman's Blog regarding JUNCTIONS (A.K.A. symbolic/soft links) on Windows 2000 / Windows Server 2003. This was news to me, and I thought that I knew all of those UNIX like features that were tucked away under MS'd names within Windows. The reason it really caught my eye, was because I had been trying to figure out a way to just do this with FTP virtual directories. If you create a IIS ftp site, and then add a virtual directory, when clients logon to the ftp site, they will not be able to see any of these virtual paths from an ls comand. I found that if I created a folder (MKDIR) within that site's root that is the same name as the virtual, BINGO of course that folder is visible to the ftp client, but what was interesting, was that it also allowed them to cd into the virtual from it. Anyway... it's getting late, and I'm fading fast.
